Congratulations on the purchase of your new Blackburn home! This phase of the building process is where all the fun begins! First, you will visit our on-site design center to choose the features and finishes you desire to personalize and create your dream home. Once you’ve finalized your selections, your home will be released for construction to begin. We’ve shared the key milestones you’ll need to be aware of during the home design and construction process.
On-site design studio appointment – During this meeting, we will work with you to complete the selections for your new home. This meeting will typically be a 4-hour appointment, and it is important to bring pictures of your key furniture pieces or styles that speak to you.
Specialty pricing – We will complete any specialty pricing for any personalized options that you decide on during the selections appointment.
Selections are finalized – All features and finishes selections are complete and prepared for your redline meeting.
Redline meeting – You will review all selections and changes to your home during this meeting with your home consultant and architect.
Deposit check for upgrades- At the redline meeting you will also write a check for 50% of any upgrade selections you’ve chosen.
Home is released and ready for construction – Once the design selection is completed, your Blackburn Communities team will release your home for construction to begin.
Monitor construction progress– You will have three walk-throughs during the construction process conducted by your construction team. For health and safety concerns, your three walk throughs must be scheduled with your Project Manager.
Close on home and receive your keys– This will be your final meeting at the title company to sign your mortgage paperwork and receive the keys to your beautiful new home.
Move-in to your new home – The moment you’ve awaited is here, it’s time to move into your new home! While you’ll be busy unpacking and moving furniture around, be sure to remember to change the utilities into your name the week before closing.
