Meet Lynn & Sandy

Meet Lynn and Sandy Ingram!

After living in the same house for 46 years in Mauldin, South Carolina, Lynn & Sandy joined the Oxford Community in November of 2021. As much as we’d love to take credit for the move (we’d love to think our homes make you want to move 500+ miles), they ultimately decided to make the move to be closer to Lynn’s brother and his family.

While viewing properties in Oxford, the location and land is what sold them on Oxford Commons– being close to everything in town was a huge amenity for them. They also recalled having a God moment while visiting the site of where their home now sits. Lynn and Sandy said they knew it was right for them and never looked back. Sandy expressed gratitude for the help she received from the Oxford Commons team while personalizing her new home– matching colors/textures/patterns together that look sharp for her new kitchen and living room.

One morning while the team was working in the Oxford Commons office, Lynn stopped by to say hello. He then graciously invited us over to see their home and sit down for a quick Q&A with us that afternoon. What started as “why do you love living in Oxford Commons?” turned into a wonderful conversation with our new friends. And while Sandy and Lynn do love living in Oxford Commons, there’s a heartwarming story to be told about this adorable couple.

It seems like Lynn and Sandy truly can do it all. Both retired now, Sandy, a school teacher, and Lynn, an engineer, still found time to travel all across the US– documenting as they go by taking photos of the historical landmarks and beautiful landscapes they visited.

With a persistent passion for pen and ink drawings and watercolors, Lynn used a photograph he captured one summer at Cades Cove, TN to inspire his first ever hand-drawn Christmas card. Since his vacation photos are taken during summertime, Lynn said he uses his imagination to add-in snow to his drawings as well as Christmas features like Santa’s sleigh and holiday wreaths. From 1996 to present, Lynn has created hand-drawn Christmas cards every year. “I had no idea that this would become an annual event with the distribution growing to well over 130 cards each year,” Lynn said.

The Oxford Commons team was lucky enough to receive the grand tour of his art studio by the man himself, Lynn Ingram. Located in the corner office of his home, you’ll find an armoire full of watercolor paintings and hand-drawn pictures of landmark buildings in Oxford.

Before leaving, Mr. Ingram gifted each team member with a watercolor of the beloved Taylor Grocery & Restaurant and his book “Christmas Memories Through the Years.” His book explores the history of his Christmas card creation process and regales on his experience while making each and every card.

Lynn dedicates this book to his adored wife Sandy, a breast cancer survivor, and he has pledged to give ten percent of profit to breast cancer research. Links to purchase each item will be listed below!
